the royalty
♚ King & queen, alpha & alphess, the mated pair at the top of the hierarchy. the alpha's word is law. the alphess only holds a fraction of the power that the alpha possesses.

♛ grand duke & grand duchess, the betas, a mated pair. like with the king & queen, the grand duke holds more power than the grand duchess.
♜ princes & princesses, offspring of the king & queen. while it is uncertain who will ascend the 'throne', if they are even fit to do so, these pups go through training just like everyone else. after their training, they will usually 'shadow' a high ranking pack member and learn more from them until they are fit to take on more permanent responsibilities.
the nobility
♝ Marquis & marchioness (for humans, the marchioness is the wife of the marquis), healers. only one or two pack members are knowledgeable in herbs and other natural remedies to treat wounds and sickness. they are to go through both the average two year training like everyone else before being assigned to learn from the current healers. once the old healer has passed, their student will take their place. the only exceptions are when there is only one healer at the time or if there is an abundance of wounded/ill.

the cavalry
♞ defense, those who keep the pack lands secure. they are trained for stealth and stamina. quick and able to hold their own, they break up into a few sub-categories with self-explanatory titles.
♞ offense, the warriors of the pack. they are trained for strength and lethality.
♞ support, those who care for the pack overall. they are often the scouts, those who go on border and hunting patrols, and those who take care of nursing wolves and their pups.
