Round and Round We Go (Human Thread)

We moved with uttermost importance, we had a duty, a hard job. Find and eradicate the canines who were still here. Last time they sent us, we were surrounded, wolves and dogs were fighting together, loyally, and they had the upper hand. We had sent one home bleeding bad, and another beat up, but I was more worried about the damn wolf. He had protected that German Shepherd with all he had, and it scared me to know he was so loyal.

Moving through the fairground gate, we stuck out like sore thumbs in our yellow hazmat suits. It was humid, not really hot, and it looked like it might storm, so we needed to act quickly. Moving forward, I motioned with my hands for us to stay grouped up, if someone straggled, we might die, literally. I remembered that grey wolf attacked without blinking, and I figured he might go for the kill if we run into him again. Slowly, we began to do a sweep of the booths, hoping and praying nothing really jumped out and we could go home safe.

The fairgrounds. It was hard to imagine how it might have looked before the world seemed to turn grey. Rusted attractions, dirty tents with holes, and trash that littered the ground. It was... oddly peaceful. He felt as though it would have been terrifying and annoying had he been to it while everything was still alive. Bright lights, loud noises, screaming and laughing young ones. Ah, but, he never had the opportunity to see the humans in their prime. He only had pictures in broken frames from abandoned buildings to go off of. He only had the advertisements that are now grimy and torn, withered with the weather.

Dark ears drew forwards as he lifted his head, ignoring the awkward weight of his antlers as they tried to pull his head back down. Now was not the time to be listening to the pressure against his head, not when there was a soft, faint sound of... something against the ground. Perhaps it was the wind as it blew through the wholes in the tents and attractions, shifting the metal and moving the abandoned toys. But, no. He knew better. It was not a whistling or a dragging. It was a step. With curiosity driving him forwards, he lowered his head and nosed his way underneath the tarp covering one of the stalls. He pulled himself under, tugging as his large antlers caught on one of the holes. He pulled the rest of his body through, jerking his head to try and free his antlers. The sound of the tarp tearing caught in his ears, ringing as loud as thunder as he stilled himself.

Hopefully no one heard that.

The fairgrounds was one place she had not looked for her brother, not that she was worried about it too much. Flicking her long and fluffy banner, she padded through the different aisles of tents and odd things, the occasional bird bursting out of hiding.

Movement to her left caught her eye and she could barely see the black shape of a dog crawling from beneath a tent. Cocking her head, she perked her audits as movement farther left caught her attention. Humans...about ten were heading their way.

Surveying the situation, she ducked down and crawled over to the dog's side. The humans wore odd yellow things, their faces covered by ugly masks that were see through. Bastet had no idea why they were dressed like that, she had never seen that. Then the sun glinted off of her biggest fear....a gun. Cursing, she pushed on the dog as his antler ripped through the material.

"GET IN THE FREAKING TENT NOW!"

She ducked inside and hoped he followed, they meant harm, not goodness.

    Seryy weaved her way through the faded, torn tents and the corroding rides of the London Fairgrounds. She wanted to go back home. Badly.
    The Russian Weim's folded harks swiveled forward as the sound of the uniform footfalls of the Humans reached her ears. A low, audible growl resonated in her chest cavity. She would kill not just one, but every last one of those foul creatures.
    The huge female prowled along the borders of the Human Pack as she prepared herself. Her body temperature rose from one hundred and eight degrees F to a hundred and fifteen degrees F, making her smoke grey pelt shimmer and faintly glow with hot energy. She parted her jaws and inhaled sharply like a dragon preparing to breath fire. She was like a dragon, only she had no scales and didn't breath fire. Instead of breathing fire, her bite made skin blister with burns ranging in the second degree; sometimes third if she was extremely pissed off (which she was at the moment).
    Seryy kept her iron grey, lithe bodice out of sight as she silently worked her way to the Human Pack's rear. These creatures were the reason that her owners abandoned her in this foreign country, and they needed to pay.
    The Russian female huffed and stared through the parted flaps of the small tent that she had hunkered down in; her pale pools burning with a strong hate.
    A light breeze created by a moving creature  caused the flap to hit Seryy in the face. Irritated, she bit down on the fabric, which started to smolder not long after she had "attacked" it. The huge female pressed her soft underbelly to the ground and drew her shoulders over her neck. She kept her pale yellow windows on the tent's opening; her snipped tassel wagged stiffly as she released another low growl. She was ready.

Our men moved silently, barely making a noise, slowly exploring each tent, ripping open flaps and exposing the guts left behind. We were maybe fifteen feet from the Ferris Wheel when a loud tearing noise made me call my men to a stop.

Hear that? Over there...move out!

I moved forward, steps slow and calculated, and then I saw it. A brown and white collie darted toward another dog...with antlers? and she growled and barked at him. Soon, she disappeared, and I smirked, we had then outnumbered. Poising my pistol, I aimed toward the tent, and fired off five shots in random places, hoping to hit one of them. My men circled around to surround the tent, they were so screwed. Motioning silently, I told my men to keep a distance, we had only seen two dogs, but there could be more inside the tent hiding. A soft sizzling sound caught my ears, and I turned, but I did not see anything. Shrugging, I kept my pistol aimed at the tent, prepared to fight for my life.

pretty soon, there was another dog barking at him to get inside the tent. what did she think he was doing? hanging around? well, kind of. the husky mix continued to jerk at the fabric of the tent, trying to free his antler while the rest of his body hid within the dark of the tent. yet, there was also yet another dog within the tent. that much was apparent by the foul scents within and the sizzling that was heard. then the material was grabbed at by the unknown canine, and the heat that hit him was almost unbearable with his thick pelt. with a growl of frustration and a throb in his head, the red eyed dog managed to shake his antlers free as soon gunfire rained down upon them. one of the bullets landed on one of the tips of bone sticking out of the tent, snapping it off and freeing him. he let out a yelp for good measure, though it was uncertain if it was because it actually hurt to have part of his bone blasted off or because his headache was only made worse by the vibrations and the force.

the mix retreated further into tent once the thunderous gunfire silenced. he weaved around the contents of the tent, jumping up and over a counter and into what he assumed was once a fairground game. at least it should protect them, somewhat, from having their heads blasted off. he remained quiet, craning his head as he lightly scratched the broken tip of his antler against the ground, caking it in dirt as if it would help it grow. It wouldn't, but he would rather busy himself with that than try and figure out why three dogs were now sitting ducks.

The dog tried to listen, but he was stuck, so only his body got in his antlers ripping the material farther. Growling, she was about to grab a hold of him, when an odd sizzling sound caught her attention. Turning, she looked to see a dog biting it, causing the whole tent to smell burnt.

The dog before her yelped, and she aimed to grab him and pull, when gunshots ricocheted around her. Ducking, she yelped and was glad to see the dog got free, but he did not stop, he ran and hid behind the counter. Figuring it was a smart idea, she leapt over the counter and almost landed on him in her hurry.

Stop rubbing those damn things into the ground. You're making a lot of noise okay? Why the hell are they shooting at us?

Sure she was one not to fear humans, she feared the metal objects at which they were beginning to aim at them. Frowning she sat on her haunches and sighed, they were so screwed. Cornered within a tent, she knew some miracle would have to happen to make the humans be distracted long enough to have them run to safety

    It was at that moment that the loud ripping sound of fabric caught the tall Russian's attention. She turned her head in the direction from which the noise came, and was greeted with the unusual sight of a male dog with antlers sprouting out from his dome. Beside him stood a female collie with a long flowing coat of mud and snow hues, who started scolding the younger looking male when he bent down and began to rub those pronged things of his on the dry earth that was beneath their paws. The smaller female began to ridicule him, and Seryy whipped her head around; her pale golden windows blazing. "Ay." She growled quietly through clenched teeth. "Do vou (you) tvo (two) vand (want) do (to) ged (get) us killed? With all the noise that vou're (you're) making, vou seem do be begging do be durned (turned) indo (into) a fur coad (coat). Knock id (it) off!"
    Then, as if to prove the lean, iron grey foreigner's point, one of the two legged creatures fired several random shots int the direction of the three dogs' safe haven. Seryy let out a startled yelp as one of the metal projectiles grazed her right shoulder, which was followed by a sharp pain. She growled a curse in Russian as she looked through the tear that the antlered male had created.
    With little effort, the smoke shrouded damsel joined the other two dogs behind the booth. She crouched so that only her pale yellow pools were visible in order to keep a lookout. Ser inhaled sharply as the tent's flap began to quiver. The femme ducked and pressed her barrel to the earth; struggling to keep her body temperature from getting hot enough to send the cloth shelter bursting into flames. Hopefully, it was just the wind that was moving the flap. Please led (let) id be da (the) vind (wind). Please led id be da vind. She thought over and over again.

Alarice and Nightingale

Once I had fired, it seemed the dogs went into hiding. The sound of a yelp hit our ears, but we saw no blood, so we were uncertain if we had actually hit them or not. Moving forward, I crouched onto my balls of my feet and peeked through the large tear. It was rather large, his antlers (which were scary) had ripped them quite far, and he had looked terrified. Unable to see into the tent well enough to be safe to enter, I grabbed the corner of the flap, then motioned for the others to do the same.

PULL

I yelled and we all pulled, the plastic coming off with ease. There was no dogs within sight, and we all froze, what the hell? Then I spotted the grey of a dog above the counter, motioning with a hand, we all moved forward slowly, hoping to get to them without being killed or torn to pieces. My gun was ready, hell all of ours was...this was insane

Oh, so now it was his fault for making noise? If he recalled, he was the only one keeping his trap shut. Digging into the dirt was not going to make enough noise to draw attention. Now, if he decided to clank against the counter, which he would rather not, then he would be making sufficient noise to draw attention. The mix lifted his head, red eyes narrowing as he tried to ignore the dull throb in his head, specifically centered around the antler that had a tip blasted off. He knew nothing about humans, other than how they used to enslave dogs or something. His parents weren't very clear on it. But, now he had dangerous firepower to add to that list.

his ears perked as the tent began to rustle amidst the females' griping. he crouched down as close to the ground as he could, keeping his head down low so that his antlers would not be seen without leaning over the counters. far too much light flooded into the small area as the plastic tarp covering the ten was mostly pulled off. the black and white dog flattened himself as much as he could, and bright red eyes searched around for an escape route. if they created a distraction, perhaps they could flee out through the side. however, since the apes in yellow were already in the tent with most of their covering gone, it would be risky.

slowly, he opened his maw, letting out his soft voice as he glanced to the edge of the counter. "let them get close enough to look over. i can gouge out a few eyes, and..." he glanced over to the weimeraner. "you can do whatever it is you do." as for the collie, he only knew she could talk. so, for now, she was useless in his mind. part of him wanted to go the 'easy' route and see if they responded well to whimpering and puppydog eyes, but something in the back of his head told him that such a plan would never work.
