Welcome, novel members, to--------------------- ------------Curse of the Beast! So you've decided to join us for a stint have you? Well, here's all you'll need to know on how to get situated here with us! - Getting started - Joining a new and unfamiliar website may be a bit daunting at first, but don't worry! It's not all as complicated as it seems. Hit up the chat box and meet some new people (we promise we don't bite!), get a few ideas going about what kind of characters you want to create, and have fun exploring all that COB has to offer! Please note that each time you post you gain points called Curses that are to be used as currency here! There are various ways of earning them such as through competitions and contests, but the main way is by plotting and creating threads with others.- Creating your Characters - Here at Curse of the Beast we have a process that we go through to get your characters looking great and getting accepted as fast as possible. First, come up with an idea! All great characters have two things; Strengths and Weaknesses, so keep that in mind when formulating what kind of character you want. Next, onto the creating phase! When you've got the general personality and actions of your new character in mind then it's time to set it in stone with the Character Template, which you'll post in the WIP Character board as a new thread. If you have any trouble finding a good set for your character, just pop into here and I'll help you out! When you've got the specifics figured out and are ready to get that character accepted then you mosey on over to the Notification Thread to let Staff know that you're ready to have your Bio looked over. Provided there is nothing Staff asks you to fix or change (it's bound to happen to anyone, so don't freak out!) then post in the Taken Names thread to seal the deal and induct the character into the database! Mission complete! - Plotting - Perhaps one of the most important parts of online roleplaying is the Plots! For without plots there can be no reason of the Character. When you're all set with getting your characters accepted, you can then go to We're all a Little Lost and start a thread to ask others for plot ideas. You can also reply to other member's posts there in order to further your plotting experience. A lot of people will also go to the Chat box and passively plot with others, but make sure you aren't attacking people with ideas! - Adopting - Have a character that you don't want anymore? Want someone to adopt your character's siblings or family? Then look no further than The Pound! Just make a thread to state who you want to be adopted and others can look through and pick the ones they want. If you've completely adopted out who you wanted then the thread will be moved to the successful adoptions board! Just remember that if you are adopting a previously played character (a canine or wolf who already has a bio) you must re-do their application and have it re-accepted to finalize the adoption.- Character Trackers - If you own more than one character then keeping up with them can get tiring and more than a bit complicated. So what do you do? You create a tracker of course! The tracker board is where you would do this. All you have to do is post a thread stating who's tracker it is (Example: Mine is "Join the Rebellion") and post in that thread all you want or need to keep tabs on the adventures of your characters. Remember not to make more than one thread unless you purchase your very own Log Board from the shop! Then, after you name it and call it your own, you can post as many threads under that board as you want.- Having Puppies - Well, first of all, Congratulations! If you've made it so far as to need to know what to do when you or your significant other is expecting, then it means that pups are soon on the way! Which means that you'll need to post in the Parent Applications board application thread in order to find out what kind of litter you'll have. Then, when the Stork has made decisions on what the outcome of the litter will be, they'll post how many puppies there will be, their appearances, their mental health, their survival rate, and their due date in the Delivery Room! On the date given, your character (or your character's mate) will go into labor and welcome the bundles of joy to Curse of the Beast! After they're borne (or even before, when you get all of their information) you may put them up for adoption so that other members can roleplay them. With your curses you also have the ability to buy accessories for your litter. I.E. characteristics and such of the puppies! Unless you do this, you'll have little to no say in how your litter comes out (very much like real life). - Conclusion - Well, now that you've got the basics it's time to get out there and start meeting people, posting, and having fun here on Curse of the Beast! If you ever have any questions on any of the information provided or on anything else, do not hesitate to PM one of staff with your concerns as we are always happy to help! Happy roleplaying! |
